Overview

Mount Kailash, lies in the western part of the Tibetan Autonomous Region of China. A 22,028-foot peak in a remote corner of the Tibetan plateau, is revered by Hindus and Buddhists all the world over as the ultimate pilgrimage site. The perfectly shaped pyramid of rock and snow is regarded as the center of the spiritual universe by millions, therefore, is a hallowed pilgrimage site. Hindu believes Mt.Kailash the abode of Lord Shiva. Not for only Hindu, Mt. Kailash has been object of worship for four major religions. For hindu it is the domain of Shiva, the destroyer and transformer to the Buddhist, faithful Kailash is the adobe of Samvara (a multiarmed, artful deity worshipped in the Chakrasamvara, Tantric cycle of Tibetan Buddhism), among Tibetan it is also known as Khang Rimpoche or precious jewel of the snow. Taking a bath in Lake Mansarovar and drinking its water is believed to cleanse all earthly sins committed over a hundred lifetimes and can reach ultimate spiritual freedom.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu Nepal

Warm welcome as our representative will receive you at the airport and take you to Three Star Hotel. Depending upon your arrival time, you many explore ”Thamel”, the tourist hub in Kathmandu. We will collect your passport to obtain VISA for Tibet. Late afternoon we will have a group meeting to prepare for the Piligrimage Tour and collect sleeping bags, Down jacket, and Duffle Bags. In the evening, we host a welcome dinner at a typical Nepalese Restaurant with local music and ethnic dance. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu. Included meal: Dinner

Day 2Kathmandu sight seeing

After Breakfast, we will drive to Pashupatinath temple at approximately 9am. Proceed for sightseeing tour to Boudhnath and Patan Darbar square. Lunch on your own. Final Preparation for Yatra, shopping, etc. Dinner on your own. Overnight stay at Hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 3Drive to Nylam

After early breakfast we depart for the Tibet border. Lunch at the border. Clear Nepali customs/immigration and a 15 minute walk across Friendship Bridge to Tibet where the Chinese border police will check passport & visa. Here, our land cruiser awaits (4 yatris plus a driver per vehicle). 30 minute drive from Kodari to Zhangmu, where second immigration formalities have to be done. From Zhangmu to Nylam is 3 to 4 hours scenic drive. Overnight at Guesthouse in Nylam.

Day 4Rest day in Nylam to acclimatize

After breakfast we will take a small walk through Nylam village to visit monastery. An option for a 2 hour trek for acclimatization or rest at the guesthouse. Overnight at the same guesthouse.

Day 5Drive from Nylam to Saga

The road today is bumpy. Enjoy the view of snow capped mountains; we will be passing through the first highest pass of Lalung La Pass (5000m) where a magnificent view of high Himalayas can be seen such as Gaurishanker, Shishapangma, and Langtang Himal. We will be crossing the holy river Bhramaputra. Overnight at hotel in Saga. Hot Shower Houses available here.

Day 6Drive from Saga to Mansarovar

Today is the most auspicious day for all of us as we will see the first glimpse of holy Mt.Kailash and sacred Lake Mansarovar. A lifetime achievement: here we will perform a holy dip, relax and explore around the Mansarovar area. Overnight in a tent/camp or Guesthouse.

Day 7Drive from Mansarovar towards Rakas Lake

Early Morning Puja on lake before breakfast. After Breakfast, you may choose one of the options below:
Visit to Astapad and Nandi Parvat Additional cost of USD $100 per jeep (4 people)
Visit to Tirthpuri Additional cost of $200 per jeep (4 people)
Day trip to Saptrishi Cave and Nandi Parikrama USD 200 per jeep (4 people)
Parikrama of Mansarovar by jeep and visit Raksas Lake USD $200 per jeep (4 people)
Overnight at the Mansarovar Lake Guest House. We will pack our Back Pack and Repack our luggage for Parikrama days. One Duffle bag per two people is allowed.

Day 8Parikrama to Dehara Puk

Today, it feels as if the heavens had opened up for us and allowed us to peek inside the world of gods and goddesses. We will walk 18 kilometers through the valley guided by Holy Ganges River on our left and shadowed by Mount Kailash on our right. The feeling of today can only be experienced by one and not described Have your camera handy to capture amazing views of Mt. Kailash. Overnight in a guesthouse or tent.

Day 9Parikrama continues to Dolma-LA Pass

Hardest but Holiest day of our pilgrimage Yatra with Dolma-La (pass) of 19,500 ft between two valleys: Yamasthal should be crossed to reach the Shiva-sthal while your steps go closer to the pass. Once you reach the top, just do the holiest offering and sit down for meditation. Parvati-stal and Gauri Kund are on the way. Day 10Parikrama ends and drive to Saga

After walking 3 hours, all the driving crew will be waiting your arrival. We will continue our drive to Saga and arrive by Evening.

Day 11Drive to Kathmandu

Early morning, we will depart Saga and drive to border town of Zhangmu where we will clear customs and continue our journey to Kathmandu.

FarewellDay 12

Transfer to airport for your Flight home sweet home Time to say good bye to the mountains as your journey in Nepal comes to an end today! We hope you enjoyed the tour with us, and are sure you’ll be back in your trip somewhere in the Himalaya again. Depending upon your flight time, you can either indulge yourself with personal activities, explore Thamel – the shopping paradise, go for a walk nearby or, take rest. Approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight a representative from Trek & Climb will transfer you to the airport. On your way home you’ll have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.
