Dhorpatan trek is less crowded and off the beaten path trekking trail of the Dhaulagiri region. Dhorpatan Hunting reserve is characterizing by alpine, sub-alpine, and high temperate vegetation. Common plant species include fir, pine, birch, rhododendron, hemlock, oak, juniper and spruce.
Dhorpatan Hunting reserve is divided into six blocks for hunting management purposes. The reserve’s elevation ranges from 2,850 m to more than 7,000 m. It provides excellent mountain views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna range. Dhorpatan is the prime habitats of blue sheep, a highly prized trophy animal, which is the main target of hunters. Other game species are Ghoral, Serow, Himalayan Tahr, Black Bear Pheasant and Partridge.
