Dhorpatan Trek - 10 Days

Dhorpatan trek is less crowded and off the beaten path trekking trail of the Dhaulagiri region. Dhorpatan Hunting reserve is characterizing by alpine, sub-alpine, and high temperate vegetation. Common plant species include fir, pine, birch, rhododendron, hemlock, oak, juniper and spruce. 

Dhorpatan Hunting reserve is divided into six blocks for hunting management purposes. The reserve’s elevation ranges from 2,850 m to more than 7,000 m. It provides excellent mountain views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna range. Dhorpatan is the prime habitats of blue sheep, a highly prized trophy animal, which is the main target of hunters. Other game species are Ghoral, Serow, Himalayan Tahr, Black Bear Pheasant and Partridge.

Day 1: Drive to Darbang via Beni

Day 2: Darbang to Dharapani

Day 3: Dharapani to Lamsung

Day 4: Lamsung to Jaljala

Day 5: Jaljala to Dhorpatan

Day 6: Exploration day!

Day 7: Explore and Camp in Jungle

Day 8: Jungle camp to Gurjaghat

Day 09: Gurjaghat to Patichaur

Day 10: Patichaur to Darbang, Beni and Pokhara

Day 1
Drive to Darbang via Beni (6 Hrs.)

Drive from Pokhara to Darbang via Beni. First drive by private vehicle from Pokhara to Darbang. Stay overnight at Lodge.

Day 2
Trek to Dharapani 5 Hrs.

Trek to Dharapani. Initially up to Khop the trail heads on the bank of the stream and from there to Dharapani trek gradually goes up. Stay overnight at Dharapani.

Day 3
Trek Dharapani to Lamsung (6 Hrs.)

Dharapani to Lamsung. This remote area with stream and gorges will be a wonderful place to explore. The beautiful landscape is an added beauty. Stay overnight at Lamsung.

Day 4
Lamsung to Jaljala (3430 m.) 7 Hrs.

The trail ascends towards Jaljala through mixed for forests of Rhododendron and Oaks etc. The scenery of green jungle, and high mountains, including Mt. Dhaulagiri, Gurja Himal, Churen Himala, Putha Himala etc. can be observed along the way and from Jaljala as well. Stay overnight at Jaljala.

Day 5
Trek Jaljala to Dhorpatan 7 Hrs.

Initially the trail descends up to Khahare Khola (stream). After crossing it the trails goes ahead on the bank of the stream and through mixed forests to reach Dhorpatan. It’s a wonderful place in the middle of the jungle.

Day 6
Explore Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve

Today is the day for exploration around Dhorpatan Wildlife Reserve. We can see different types of animals like Leopard, Ghoral, Himalayan Tahr, black bear, barking deer & other many animals and birds. We can also learn typical life style of people in this place. After observing the wild life of Dhorpatan we trek forward towards Phagune Phedi. The trail ascends steeply up enjoying the beautiful scenery of the mountains, green jungle and landscape.

Day 7
Explore and stay at Jungle Camp 7 Hrs.

Morning hike to Phagune Danda and trek back to Jungle camp. Early in the morning hike to Phagune Danda, observe the beautiful views of the Himalayan ranges, jungle and landscape. And trek back descending to Jungle camp. Stay overnight at Jungle Camp.

Day 8
Jungle Camp to Gurja Ghat (3000 m.) 6 Hrs.

The trail on the flat land through mixed jungle and streams. Stay overnight at Gurja Ghat.

Day 9
Trek Gurja Ghat to Patichaur 6 Hrs.

We have both ascending and descending walks today. The trail from Gurjaghat is ascending at the beginning hour whereas we begin to descend through the jungle and gorges. We reach Patichaur, our destination for the day. Stay overnight at Patichaur.

Day 10
Patichaur to Darbang and drive to Pokhara via Beni

Patichaur to Darbang and to Beni. Approx 5 hours. The trails heads ascending and descending through light jungle and gorges. From Darbang drive to Beni (3 hours) and Pokhara (3 Hrs.)
