Dhorpatan trek is less crowded and off the beaten path trekking trail of the Dhaulagiri region. Dhorpatan Hunting reserve is characterized by alpine, sub-alpine, and high temperate vegetation. Common plant species include fir, pine, birch, rhododendron, hemlock, oak, juniper, and spruce.
Overview
Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve is divided into six blocks for hunting management purposes. The reserve’s elevation ranges from 2,850 m to more than 7,000 m. It provides excellent mountain views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges. Dhorpatan is the prime habitat of blue sheep, a highly prized trophy animal, which is the main target of hunters. Other game species are Ghoral, Serow, Himalayan Tahr, Black Bear Pheasant, and Partridge.
