The Nepali New year starts on Baishakh. Baishakh is the first month of Bikram Sambat calendar. The day usually falls on the second week of April.

Visitors trekking in the Khumbu region must now take a Trek Card. According to the Khumbu rural municipality, this card is mandatory for foreign tourists, this action has been made in order to make the safety system effective from 23rd Sept. 2022 for the trekkers visiting the Everest region.

Buddha Jayanti is celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Baishakh to celebrate the birth anniversary of Lord Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. The Lord Buddha was born in 623 BC in the sacred area of Lumbini, Nepal.
